The Board Building Cycle

One of the most important responsibilities of a board is to ensure that it continuously adds qualified new members and keeps them engaged. Board building should not just happen when it is time to fill a vacancy; it should be an ongoing process with year-round activities.

This workshop will guide participants through a process that includes identifying, cultivating, and recruiting members; orienting new board members; encouraging active participation and commitment; educating the board; rotating board members; and engaging in self-assessment. BoardSource’s Board Building Cycle is an interactive board course that focuses on the different steps in the process of building an effective board.

We recommend you come as an organizational team, your organization’s Executive Director attend or Board Leaders if possible. While these organization members are not required to attend, it would have a greater impact on your organization and board.
